At the recent Mnet Asian Music Awards held on November 29 in Singapore, Hallyu group Super Junior performed three different songs and came away with three awards by the end of the night: Album of the Year, Best Male Group, and Singapore’s (Popular) Choice. They amazed the crowd with their impressive performances of Mr.Simple, Superman, and Sorry, Sorry.

But what really stood out to fans and the audience was leader Leeteuk’s thank you speech when they won the award for Album of the Year. He had acknowledged the members of Super Junior who could not be with them that night and thanked their faithful kpop fan base, E.L.F. His touching words and the meaning of their accomplishments so far led to tears from both Super Junior and their fans around the world. The successes of Super Junior really put them at the front of the Hallyu wave and their popularity seems to be growing more than ever.

MAMA was a spectacular event attended by many prominent celebrities and it satisfied many fans’ appetites. Other award winners included 2NE1 (I Am the Best) for Song of the Year, Girls’ Generation (The Boys) for Artist of the Year and Best Female Group, Huh Gak (hello) for Best New Male Artist, Kim Hyun Joong (Break Down) for Best Male Artist, and Baek Ji Young (Ordinariness) for Best Female Artist.
