Plastic surgery is common in K-pop because many idols boldly confessed that they had undergone the procedure. There are also artists who have revealed that they once thought about performing the same procedure as those who were asked to do so.

Among them are five singers below – but in the end they went against the idea.

Former 2NE1 CL

One of the hallmarks of CL are its outstanding monolids, which she has come to love over the years. But before the idol’s debut, she was repeatedly disgraced for the lack of double eyelids. For this reason, CL was forced to undergo double-eyelid surgery early in her career.

The rain was also under pressure from those around him to undergo plastic surgery. One of these people is JY Park.

When he was young, people did not speak so politely about his appearance. In an episode of his YouTube show “Season B Season”, Rain shared: “When I was young, everyone said I was ugly.”

In fact, Rain was rejected by many companies before being accepted into JYP Entertainment due to his appearance. In one of the auditions, he was told that he had great singing and dancing skills, but he failed because he didn’t have double eyelids.

While JY Park encouraged him to undergo plastic surgery, Rain ultimately decided not to do anything and his reason was with JY Park. He explained that since Park Jinyoung didn’t look traditionally “handsome” either, he decided to just adopt his natural appearance.

Gyuri KARA

KARA member Gyuri is another example of a K-pop idol who was ordered to undergo plastic surgery. Her label asked her to do this because they thought it would “improve” her appearance. The idolka went against the idea because she is already satisfied with her appearance.

In 2012, Gyuri appeared on the “Do Dream” talk show and shared that she had turned down an offer of plastic surgery while she was still an intern. She said, “If you have plastic surgery, you can become sweet and adorable. But I wanted to be loved exactly as I am. ” She added that she was told she would not be able to debut unless she did certain treatments in certain areas.

Former SISTAR Bora

Unlike the three K-pop idols above who were ordered to undergo plastic surgery, the former member of SISTAR Bora was actually the one who considered undergoing plastic surgery. In particular, she thought about undergoing double-eyelid surgery when she was young. However, doctors already found her eyes charming, which made the artist change her mind.
