While STAY members are aware, many non-fans are probably unaware that Bang Chan and Felix are Australian. These two make up the adorable Australian line Stray Kids.

While Bang Chan was born in South Korea, he and his family moved to Sydney, Australia at a young age and he grew up there. His English name is Christopher. In 2010, Chan returned to Korea after auditioning for JYP Entertainment when he was 13 years old.

Meanwhile, Felix was born and raised in Australia, specifically in Seven Hills, a suburb of Sydney. His parents are Korean. The only time he moved to Korea was after he was accepted as a trainee at JYP Entertainment in February 2017. After a year of training, he finally made his debut in March 2018.

ENHYPEN Jake is also an Australian K-pop idol! Like Bang Chan, he was born in South Korea but moved to Australia in his youth, especially to Brisbane. He started training in Korea in September 2019 and after nine months he started the survival program “I-LAND”. And after finishing third on the show, he made his debut as a member of the boy band he is in now.

A more recent Australian K-pop idol is NMIXX Lily. She was born and raised in Victoria, Australia, probably around Melbourne. Her father is Australian and her mother Korean, therefore she is fluent in both English and Korean.

Lily first appeared on the K-pop scene as a contestant on the fourth season of the reality show “K-pop Star”, on which JY Park was one of the judges. She was eliminated from the show but still had a chance to sign an exclusive contract with JYP Entertainment in May 2015. Now, after six years of training, Lily has finally debuted as a member of NMIXX who impresses everyone with her unparalleled vocals.

And until recently, NewJeans members Danielle and Hanni joined the Australian lineup of K-pop. Hanni is Vietnamese-Australian and was born in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Both of her parents are Vietnamese, her father is from Hanoi and her mother is from HO Chi Minh City. She only visited her parents’ hometown in Vietnam a few times.

Meanwhile, Danielle is Korean-Australian as her father is Australian and her mother is Korean. Her full English name is Danielle June Marsh. She was born in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia.

The last Australian K-pop idol on our list is IRRIS Nina, who is the maknae of her group. She is also Korean-Australian and her real name is Nina Nadia Mateer. Like ENHYPEN Jake, she grew up in Brisbane, Australia, where she was also born. He is currently studying law at an Australian university.

Fun fact: she wants to befriend fellow Australian K-pop idols BLACKPINK Rosé and NMIXX Lily.
