BTS is making history at the 2022 American Music Awards after winning the award 4 times

BTS did not perform at the 2022 American Music Awards, but the K-pop supergroup was still able to impress their fans around the world.

The 2022 annual American Music Awards took place at the Microsoft Theater on November 20. The entire event aired on streaming site ABC and Hulu, showcasing its guests including PINK, Yola, WIZKID, Stevie Wonder, Anitta, Charlie Puth, David Guetta, among others , D-Nice, GloRilla, Imagine Dragons and Lil Baby.

However, BTS did not grace their stage this year due to the members’ individual projects being scheduled, but the award body honored the group once again.

Before the live broadcast, official page on Twitter The American Music Awards also confirmed that BTS won the AMAs for Favorite Pop Duo or Group.

While the award itself was already a huge acclaim, it also marked the fourth time BTS had won the award four times. This makes the K-pop group the first and only artist in AMA history to reach this milestone.

This year, BTS beat out other nominees including One Republic, Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, and Maneskin.

In addition to the award for Favorite Pop Duo or Group, BTS also won the Favorite Community Artist at the 2018 AMAs. In addition, they became the first K-pop act to win Artist of the Year 2021.

The members received a new award after garnering multiple nominations at the 2023 Grammy Awards. Earlier this month, the Grammy Awards revealed that the K-pop band had been nominated in two major categories and one minor.

BTS competes for Best Pop Duo/Group for the third time with Coldplay’s “My Universe”. Other nominees include ABBA for “Don’t Shut Me Down”, Camila Cabello and Ed Sheeran for “Bam Bam”, Post Malone and Doja Cat for “I Like You (A Happier Song)” and Sam Smith and Kim Petras for “Godless” “

It also earned nominations for Best Video and Album of the Year. Now it’s vying for Best Video with “Yet To Come” and hopes to outshine other nominees including Adele (Easy On Me), Doja Cat (Woman), Kendrick Lamar (The Heart Part 5), Harry Styles (How was) and Taylor Swift (All Too Good: A Short Film).

Meanwhile, “Music of the Spheres” by Coldplay. He will face ABBA’s “Voyage”, “30” by Adele, “Un Verano Sin Ti” by Bad Bunny, “RENAISSANCE” by Beyonce, “Good Morning Gorgeous (Deluxe)” by Mary J. Blig, “In These Silent Days” by Brandi Carlile, “Kendrick” “Mr. Lamar’s Morale & The Big Steppers, Lizzo’s “Special” and Harry Styles’ “Harry’s House” are alongside BTS for Album of the Year.
