Here are the top 20 male K-pop singers of 2022 – TVXQ, Stray Kids, NCT

A poll of thousands of Japanese fans was recently conducted to determine which male K-pop singers they thought were the best this year, and the results are.

Here are the top 20 male K-pop singers of 2022 – BTS member ranks #1

In fifth place was TVXQ Yunho, who is the leader, main rapper, main dancer, vocalist and center of his group. The male K-pop idol received 1,757 votes.

In addition to Yunho, his teammate Changmin is also on the list. This comes as no surprise as TVXQ – or better known in Japan as Tohoshinki – has been popular in the country since 2005 when they advanced to Japan after debuting in Korea.

Tohoshinki is very popular in the country, selling thousands of copies of the albums they sold daily, weekly and monthly, and holding several sold-out concerts.

Securing No. 4 is a fourth generation K-pop idol who is none other than Stray Kids Seungmin. The singer of “MANIAC” won 1979 votes in the plebiscite. His associate Han also made a list. This just shows the massive rise in popularity of Stray Kids in Japan.

NCT Taeil is ranked 3rd in the 2022 Best Male K-pop Singers with 2,612 total votes. He is the lead singer of NCT’s sub-units NCT U and NCT 127. In Japan, NCT is one of the most popular K-pop groups among Japanese teenagers. No wonder Taeil made it into the top five.

Second place goes to SEVENTEEN DK, one of the group’s lead vocalists alongside Seungkwan (who also won a spot in the poll). DK received a total of 4,260 votes, which nearly doubled NCT Taeil’s tally.

SEVENTEEN has been proving their great popularity in Japan since their debut in 2018, but their fame began to grow in 2020. They record hundreds of thousands of sold albums – Korean or Japanese – and sell out concerts.

Finally, according to Japanese fans, the No. 1 male K-pop singer of 2022 is BTS Jungkook with a total of 5,217 votes. “Golden maknae” has shown its immense popularity in Japan in various ways, one of which is obtaining streaming certifications for his self-composed songs “Your Eyes Tell” and “Film Out”.
