Return of K-pop December 2022: Super Junior, NCT Dream, NewJeans

On December 15, Super Junior returned to the music scene with the second part of their 11th studio album entitled “The Road: Celebration”. The album is led by the song “Celebrate”, which is a pop song celebrating the journey so far, expressing love and thanks to those who have been by Super Junior’s side for a long time.

“The Road: Celebration” was a major success on the iTunes charts, peaking at number one in 21 regions and landing in the top five of 29 other regions. “Celebration” even topped the iTunes Song charts in 11 regions.

Another new K-pop song that was released in the third week of December 2022 is NCT Dream’s “Candy”, which is a remake of the 1996 H.O.T. song of the same name. The all-new version was met with great love by Korean music lovers, becoming the only third song by a boy band to reach number one on MelOn’s Top 100 in 2022. Furthermore, “Candy” made NCT Dream the only third boy group to reach the top 10 on MelOn’s 24Hits chart in history.
Meanwhile, the single “Candy” topped the iTunes album charts in at least 16 regions, as well as QQ Music’s digital album sales chart.
New “Ditto” Jeans

Released by NewJeans, “Ditto” is also a new K-pop song. It is a pre-release single, which is the group’s first project since their debut EP “NewJeans”, which was released in early August.

In just six hours of release, “Ditto” climbed to number one on major Korean real-time charts such as Bugs, Genie and MelOn.
In addition, the pre-release track NewJeans topped the iTunes Song charts in at least seven regions and became the second most searched term on China’s Weibo on the same day it was released.

Amid the controversy surrounding Blockberry Creative and Chuu, LOONA is gearing up for a comeback in January next year. But the company announced that the girl group will not be presenting their new album “0”. However, the label did not give a reason.
