“Shut Down” features lyrics written by TEDDY, Danny Chung and Vince, and was composed by TEDDY and 24. Sampling “La Campanella” by classical composer Paganini, the song blends classical music with hip-hop beats. Throughout the song, the girls take turns silencing their opponents with clever applause.

On the same day the album was released, the music video for BLACKPINK’s “Shut Down” was also released. The MV is an amazing tribute to all the music the quartet has released to date. There are many scenes that reference the group’s earlier music videos, as well as characters that have the titles of the girls’ previous songs, such as “DDU-DU DDU-DU”, “How You Like That”, “WHISTLE”, and others.

However, as many fans would expect, producing such a high-quality music video is not easy. BLACKPINK members and employees had to give it their all during the filming.

In her recent interview with ELLE, Jennie revealed that the members had actually “been awake for a good four days” while filming the “Shut Down” MV, having to shoot new scenes despite not getting enough sleep.

Jennie brought this topic up when the magazine asked her, “What’s your favorite memory on set, shooting your latest project?”

Idol replied, “Last time I was on set, I think it was for our ‘Shut Down’ music video for BLACKPINK and we didn’t sleep for a good four days and we had to shoot it.”

One of the main reasons it took them so long to shoot the film is because the girls on site learned the choreography for the song.

“And there was a lot of choreography to do, which we actually learned on the spot,” added the singer.

Despite having to stay awake for four days, Jennie said filming BLACKPINK’s “Shut Down” music video was a “very memorable” time for her.
