BTS Jungkook’s World Cup 2022 OST “Dreamers” not only swept the iTunes charts, but also set a new US record and achieved a new historic feat.

On November 20 at 14:00 KST, Jungkook released his new solo single “Dreamers”, his contribution to the official soundtrack of this year’s World Cup in Qatar.

“Dreamers” was removed hours before the opening ceremony of the 2022 World Cup, where he performed the song for the first time alongside Qatari singer Fahad Al-Kubaisi. His live performance was subsequently uploaded to FIFA’s official YouTube channel and has already surpassed 2.2 million views.

Soon after the release of “Dreamers”, Jungkook climbed to the top of the iTunes charts in many countries around the world. It impressively ranked first in at least 102 regions just 13 hours after being posted. These regions cover eight of the world’s largest music markets: United States, United Kingdom, Japan, Australia, Italy, Canada, Germany and France.

Notably, “Dreamers” set a new record for the fastest official FIFA World Cup song to top the iTunes chart in the US – the soundtrack only took two hours and 11 minutes to reach number one.

Now it also joins “Tukoh Taka” by Nicki Minja, Myriam Fares and Maluma as the only FIFA World Cup song to reach #1 on the US iTunes Song chart. It is even the first ever FIFA World Cup song to reach number one in 100 music markets.

Furthermore, Jungkook’s World Cup 2022 OST is now his fastest solo project to reach the top 100 on iTunes, doing so in 11 hours and 26 minutes. This record was previously held by another OST, “Stay Alive”, which achieved the feat in one day, 21 hours and 30 minutes.

In addition to the regional iTunes Song charts, “Dreamers” debuted simultaneously at number one on the iTunes World Charts and the European iTunes Chart. On the worldwide charts, the song scored a total of 26,247 points, the highest number for a solo K-pop song (surpassing Jungkook’s own track “Stay Alive”, which received 26,064 points).

Meanwhile, the music video for Jungkook’s “Dreamers” is set to be released on November 22 on FIFA’s official YouTube channel.

Jungkook’s “Dreamers” debuts on Korean charts and Spotify

In addition to the iTunes charts, Jungkook’s “Dreamers” also entered the major music charts in South Korea. The song peaked at No. 3 on Bugs, No. 59 on MelOn, and No. 66 on Genie at 3:00 p.m. KST on November 20.

At 9:00 a.m. KST on November 21, the OST of the 2022 FIFA World Cup reached a new high on the three charts, climbing to No. 1 on Bugs, No. 22 on Genie, and No. 36 on MelOn’s Top 100.

On the Spotify South Korea Daily chart, “Dreamers” debuted at number 24 with 9,234 plays (cumulative in just two hours), the highest new entry on the most recent chart.

In addition, Jungkook’s “Dreamers” surpassed 4.8 million unfiltered streams on Spotify in just under 15 hours of tracking.
