On March 15, JTBC released the trailer for a new drama in the Wednesday-Thursday slot titled “The Good Bad Mother” (Director: Shim Na Yeon, Written by Bae Se Young, Produced by Drama House Studio, SLL, movie monster).
“The Good Bad Mother” is a touching comedy-drama where a mother, Young Soon (Ra Mi Ran), has no choice but to live as a bad mother for her son Kang Ho (Lee Do Hyun) to succeed.
Kang Ho, who was supposed to become a successful prosecutor, has an accident that forces him to return to his hometown, where a romance is waiting to bloom and a relationship is waiting to be renewed.
In the teaser poster, Ra Mi Ran and Lee Do Hyun note the contrasting facial expressions that capture the mood of the poster. Ra Mi Ran and Lee Do Hyun stand in front of the pigsty as if posing for a photo shoot, Do Hyun holding the bouquet with an emotionless expression. At the same time, Ra Mi Ran seems a bit pretentious with her smile and gentle caresses on Do Hyun’s shoulder and back.
In addition, the poster includes a phrase that reads: “All mothers in the world are bad” standing in clear opposition to the warm tones and bright image of the poster.
Most recently, Lee Do Hyun reached the pinnacle of his career as Joo Yeo Jeong in the Netflix series The Glory, a plastic surgeon who helps Moon Dong Eun (Song Hye Kyo) on her journey to get revenge against her high school bullies. After the series ended, Lee Do Hyun received positive reviews for being able to portray a three-dimensional character with a range of diverse emotions. Yeo Jeong is traumatized by the murder of his father and the guilt of losing him to a psychopath.
The production team of “The Good Bad Mother” said: “This story will make a pleasant and warm impression,” adding, “We believe that we can properly appreciate the true value of Ra Mi Ran and Lee Do Hyun [as actors through their] extraordinary acting skills.
JTBC’s new Wednesday/Thursday drama “The Good Bad Mother” will premiere on April 26 at 10:30 p.m. (KST) and will have a total of 14 episodes.
