The second day of the MAMA 2022 Awards took place again on November 30 at the Kyocera Dome in Osaka, Japan. Today’s awards ceremony, hosted by Park Bo Gum, focused on presenting awards in the categories of artists and genres.

BTS is making history with recent wins at the 2022 MAMA Awards
With their anthology album “Proof”, BTS won the Album of the Year (Daesang) award at the MAMA Awards 2022. Septet also won another Daesang which is the Artist of the Year award, marking the seventh year in a row that they have received this accolade.

In addition, MAMA Awards 2022 introduced a new award called MAMA Platinum, which is awarded to an artist who has won all four major awards simultaneously. This award was given to BTS because they swept all four daesangs in one night for three consecutive years from 2019 to 2021.
The awards ceremony described the boy group as “The one and only artist who created a global cultural phenomenon beyond K-pop, making a breakthrough in 21st century pop culture.” Since MAMA Platinum is a new award, BTS is the first artist to win it.

With their recent grand awards, the septet extended their record as the artist with the most daesangs in history with a total of 70. They also extended their record as the artist with the most daesangs at the MAMA Awards, winning 20 trophies so far.
