Manchester City vs Borussia Dortmund LIVE: Champions League updates – Erling Haaland face old club

Manchester City are looking to get one step closer to the Champions League knockout stage as they host Borussia Dortmund tonight. City dominated an impressive 4-0 win over Sevilla in the first leg of the group stage, and another victory of the night will put them in full control of Group G.

Borussia Dortmund also made a good start with a winning start, beating FC Copenhagen 3-0 on Tuesday, although they lost to RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga over the weekend. Much is in the way as the teams meet at Etihad and the winner moves to the top of the group and the result could be down to City striker Erling Haaland.

City activated Haaland’s 60-meter release clause early this summer, allowing him to leave Dortmund and join the Premier League squad. To say he hit the ground is an understatement, as the 21-year-old has scored 12 goals in eight appearances in all competitions so far this season. His two goals against Sevilla last week pushed his total to 25 in just 20 Champions League appearances, most of which came in his two and a half years with the German club. But will his old side suffer tonight?

Follow all the action as Man City face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League group stage:

Pep Guardiola will certainly think about the changes. Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva are on the bench and can add another dimension to the attack.

Riyad Mahrez and Jack Grealish have been a bit toothless so far.

Halftime: Man City 0-0 Dortmund

45 minutes: Nothing would separate the teams at half-time.

This one wasn’t actually a thriller. As with many Man City games, it feels like we are waiting for some magic to break a solid defense or the host’s mistake to allow Dortmunds to score.

Pep Guardiola has issues to solve. How is this impasse broken?
