Prior to the broadcast, Mnet teased fans and viewers about the things they should expect from the show.
First, the show announced a format change, beginning with auditions of the 98 final contestants who qualified in 84 countries, including Japan, Thailand, Vietnam and China, as well as the United States, Canada, Europe, and the Middle East.
According to the report, 229 agencies, including large agencies, participated in the hearing. This is not the case with “Girls Planet 999”, where only potential participants from Korea, China and Japan were selected.
Meanwhile, there will be a total of 98 applicants, which will be divided into 2 groups, K Group and G Group, who will attend the camp to participate in the competition.

Secondly, this season aims to maximize viewer participation and change the lineup of the show.
Compared to “Girls Planet 999”, the participants were judged by K-pop masters and experts, including viewers. But this time ONLY THE VIEWERS will decide whether the contestants will survive this season.
The ‘Boys Planet’ champions will only play the role of a deep commitment to developing their potential, e.g. training to improve their skills.
Third and last, close solidarity between attendees and fans, such as “growth”, “connection” and “support”, can be expected by greatly increasing viewer participation in public broadcasts and voting in an environment where viewers have not been able to see the performances participants personally due to COVID-19.

The published video showed the collision of two planets. Last year’s “Girls Planet 999” featured three planets in the logo, representing three different cultures, while the two planets in the “Boys Planet” trailer symbolized the global expansion of K-pop and the emerging global group of G-boys that will sometimes collide, sometimes harmonize and grow .
