Lee Soo Man, SM Entertainment Artists Gather In “Prayer Circle”
On November 15, a netizen shared Twitter tweets in an online community and published an article titled “Before SM’s concert, Lee Soo Man and SM artists pray together.”

In context, the tweet revealed SM Entertainment artists such as Red Velvet, NCT, WayV, Girls’ Generation Taeyeon, etc. along with Lee Soo Man assembling in a circle with his eyes closed.
The OP then expressed his curiosity and wrote:
“I was thinking to myself, ‘Why do they congregate like this? But that was for group prayer.”

In another tweet, Lee Soo Man, the founder of SM Entertainment, wished his artists good luck ahead of their concert together, saying:
“Other people say we’ve long been known as SM’s Humanity. So please be humble, kind and be the love we have always wanted. A few fans will treat us with joy and love today, so I hope we can give them more joy and love in return. Congratulations!”

As soon as the post appears qoo was uploaded, it immediately gained around 78k views and over 800 comments.
The views of Internet users and K-pop fans are divided when it comes to artists and Lee Soo Man coming together for prayer.
Those who raised their eyebrows against this action explained the reason for their displeasure:
- “I’m not religious so it’s so-so. My attitude isn’t that either, so I wonder why they do it.”
- “He (Lee Soo Man) should have done it himself. What is this?”
- “They are a real family. No freedom to choose religion or anything haha”
- “It’s funny, SM is getting weirder by the day.”
- “They close their eyes, but I wonder what non-religious artists think.”

Apparently, K-internauts find the action problematic because many SM artists are known to be non-religious and they don’t all share the same religion; so praying in a circle seems insincere.
On the other hand, the SM states, also known as “Pink Bloods”, defended Lee’s actions and stressed that there is nothing wrong with wishing a good concert, whether they are religious or not.

- “Why is it problematic? Even if someone is Catholic or Buddhist, Lee Soo Man just wishes them a safe concert, right? It doesn’t even sound like a prayer, more like an encouraging message.”
- “I’m not religious either, but I don’t see anything wrong with what they did.”
- “These egg accounts are so free in their lives that even prayer is problematic now.”
