Red Velvet Seulgi “28 Reasons” becomes the album with the highest sales on the first day by a solo artist in 2022

More recently, on October 4, Red Velvet member Seulgi made her solo debut after eight years in the industry following her debut with Red Velvet in August 2014. With her solo debut, Seulgi became the third member. group to venture into solo musical activity, following Wendy and Joy.

Seulgi debuted solo with her first mini-album entitled “28 Reasons”, which includes a total of six songs: the title “28 Reasons” and b-sides “Dead Man Runnin”, “Bad Boy, Sad Girl”, “Everywhere but Home”, “Los Angeles” and “Crown”.

According to figures released by the Hanteo Chart on October 5, KST, “28 Reasons” reportedly recorded a total of 134,682 copies of the album sold on its first day of release. Of course, it also set a new career record for Seulga itself, proving the success of her solo debut.

In addition, “28 Reasons” also set a record, becoming the album released in 2022, which sold the most copies on the first day after the release by the solo artist K-pop.

Previously, this title belonged to TWICE member Nayeon, who made her solo debut with “IM NAYEON” in June this year. During this time, Nayeon recorded over 123,000 copies of albums sold on the first day of release.

Seulga’s achievements don’t stop there. With “28 Reasons” which recorded 134,682 copies of the album, it also made “28 Reasons” the fourth best-selling album by the Korean solo artist in the history of Hanteo Chart’s first day sale.

Seulgi’s “28 Reasons” follows Lisa’s “LALISA” BLACKPINK, which sold 330,129 copies of the album; “-R-” BLACKPINK Rosé, who sold 282,674 albums; and IU “Lilac” who sold 216,318 copies of the album.

“28 Reasons Why” is successful in the world charts

On iTunes, “28 Reasons” debuted on the iTunes album list in 3rd place and took 1st place on October 4 local time. The album also entered the charts in more than 14 other countries and regions, including the United States, Brazil, UK, Germany, France and more.

The album climbed to # 1 on the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart and European iTunes Album Chart. The title track “28 Reasons” also made its debut at 1st place in the Worldwide iTunes Song Chart.
