Red Velvet Seulgi continued to make a successful solo debut, setting a new first-week sales record amongst other SM Entertainment solo artists.

Red Velvet Seulgi’s ’28 Reasons’ records its highest first week sales by female SM Entertainment Solo Artist

On October 4, Seulgi became the third Red Velvet member to make an official solo debut, eight years after making her industry debut as the group idol in August 2014.

She made her debut on the long-awaited solo with her first mini-album “28 Reasons”, featuring the title track of the same name, as well as b-side tracks “Dead Man Runnin”, “Bad Boy, Sad Girl”, “Anywhere”. But Home, Los Angeles, and Crown.

Soon after the release of her mini-album and the accompanying music video for “28 Reasons”, Seulgi set a new career record in terms of sales on the first day of the album.

The day after the album’s release, Hanteo Chart announced that “28 Reasons” recorded over 134,600 copies of the album sold in just 24 hours, setting a new career record for a Red Velvet member.

In fact, “28 Reasons” even set a new record, becoming an album released this year by the solo artist K-pop, who sold the most copies of the album on the first day after release. This CD was previously in the possession of TWICE Nayeon’s solo album “IM NAYEON” released in June this year.

Moreover, thanks to this, “28 Reasons” became the fourth best-selling album on the sales of the first day of the female K-pop solo artist in the history of Hanteo Chart.

Now, a week after the album’s release, Seulgi has once again reached a new milestone among SM Entertainment artists. According to the October 11 Hanteo Chart, 28 Reasons sold a total of 184,413 copies in the first week after its premiere between October 4 and October 10.

With this new sales figure, this represents the highest sales in the first week that any solo artist at SM Entertainment, Seulgi’s, has ever achieved.

In addition, Seulga’s solo debut album also rose in the charts, becoming the fifth best-selling solo album by a solo artist in terms of first-week sales in the history of the Hanteo Chart.

“Bad Boy, Sad Girl” is an R&B track with a “bouncing” piano. In the video, you can see Seulgi singing while the boy downstairs, BE’O, also sang without her knowing.
