On November 28, Red Velvet returned to the music scene with their sixth extended play “The ReVe Festival 2022 – Birthday” and the title track “Birthday”.

On the same day, the EP sold an impressive 392,000 copies on the Hanteo Chart, beating the previous quintet first day sales record of 231,100 copies set by “The ReVe Festival 2022 – Feel My Rhythm”.

On December 4, 33,274 more copies were sold, marking the group’s second highest daily sales in the first week of an album release.

From November 28 to December 4, Red Velvet’s album “The ReVe Festival 2022 – Birthday” sold a total of 496,874 copies, reaching the group’s new highest first-week album sales on Hanteo. Their previous record was 443,922 copies, set by their fifth EP “The ReVe Festival 2022 – Feel My Rhythm” last March.

“The ReVe Festival 2022 – Birthday” has already signaled its success after it broke Red Velvet’s personal record for the number of pre-orders. As of November 27, 712,187 pre-orders were registered.

In addition, the EP achieved the sixth highest number of pre-orders of any K-pop album by a girl in history. The five K-pop girl band albums with more pre-orders are BLACKPINK’s “BORN PINK”, aespy’s “Girls”, BLACKPINK’s “THE ALBUM”, TWICE’s “BETWEEN 1&2” and ITZY’s “CHECKMATE”.

Red Velvet Tops iTunes Charts With ‘The ReVe Festival 2022 – Birthday’

Shortly after being released on November 28, Red Velvet’s latest EP topped the iTunes album charts in various regions of the world. Notably, it ranked No. 1 in at least 47 countries, including Brazil, Singapore, Thailand, Mexico, Hong Kong, Canada, Malaysia, Philippines, Cambodia, Argentina and others.

This made “The ReVe Festival 2022 – Birthday” a K-pop girl group album released in 2022 with the second number 1 on iTunes, surpassed only by “BORN PINK” BLACKPINK with 71 number 1. At the same time, it was number one on the European iTunes Albums Chart .

The EP topped the iTunes World Albums Chart, their seventh No. 1 album (the most by any female K-pop artist ever).

Red Velvet’s new album also ranked No. 1 on the QQ Music China Digital Album Sales Chart, as well as the Music Video Global and Korean Charts. It even reached number one on national charts such as Hanteo, Hottracks and Synnara.

Meanwhile, the album’s title song “Birthday” peaked at No. 21 on the Worldwide iTunes Song Chart, while the B-side song “On A Ride” did the same at No. 180.

In South Korea, “Birthday” peaked at No. 1 on Bugs, No. 16 on Genie and No. 19 on MelOn.
