The Russian parliament has finally approved a bill extending the ban on promoting “LGBT+ propaganda”.
First adopted by the Kremlin in 2013, the law prohibits what the authorities saw as spreading “propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations” among minors in order to promote “traditional values”.
On Thursday, November 24, lawmakers in the State Duma (lower house) extended the ban to all ages by approving the third and final reading.
The bill will now go to the Federation Council (upper house) before being signed by President Vladimir Putin.
