CJ Group Vice President Lee Mi Kyung received the Achievement Award at the 2022 International Emmy Directorate Award.
This award recognizes organizations or individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the global broadcasting industry.
Vice President Lee Mi Kyung was selected as the winner of the “2022 International Emmy Directorate Award” held in New York on November 22 (local time) in recognition of her contribution to the global spread of Hallyu and the development of the cultural industry.
The International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (IATAS), which hosts the International Emmy Directorate Award, assessed Vice Chairman Lee: “She is a visionary leader who has used her unique entrepreneurship and love of her country’s culture to tirelessly lead the global Hallyu phenomenon for over 25 years“.
Vice President Lee shared her thoughts: “Winning the Achievement Award at the International Emmy Directorate Award, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary, is a great honor. I am happy that in the more than 25 years since CJ started the entertainment business, I have continued to serve as a cultural bridge for many creators to pursue their dreams“.
Actor Song Joong Ki attended the event as a presenter and congratulated Vice Chairman Lee on the award. Song Joong Ki said:Vice Chairman Lee is an ambassador for Korean culture. Vice Chairman Lee took the lead in promoting everything related to Korea. She did not spare support for Korean artists. No one deserves this award more than Vice President Lee“.
Vice Chairman Lee served as executive producer on Parasite, Decision to Leave, and Broker. Since 2020, she has also served as vice-president of the board of directors of the Film Academy.
In October, she won the Pillar Award, given to producers who have contributed to the development of films, at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures’ one-year anniversary gala held in Los Angeles, USA.
