Nicola Sturgeon believes Scottish independence is essential to escape Brexit ‘catastrophe’.
The SNP leader and first minister spoke after the UK Supreme Court judges in London decided that the Scottish Parliament did not have the power to hold a second independence referendum without the consent of Westminster.
“While I am very disappointed by this, I respect and accept the court’s verdict,” Sturgeon said.
“As it becomes clear day by day, achieving independence is now not only desirable but essential if Scotland is to avoid the Brexit disaster.”
