During the 2022 voting session, the Genie Music Awards issued a formal announcement that upset many fans.

On October 19, the GMA announced that it would be canceling the vote for BLACKPINK and PSY because Genie Music noticed an “unusual move” they “deemed to be false votes”. As a result, they received 1,627,041 votes from BLACKPINK and 306,908 votes from PSY.

This decision made fans, especially BLINK, feel as furious as ever tracking votes for the singers of “Pink Venom” and saw the voices consistently rise over time, which seemed to contradict Genie Music’s claim that there was an abnormal movement.
