Actress Kim Hieora recently appeared in the Netflix series “The Glory” as Lee Sa Ra, one of the 5 villains who stalked the main character, Moon Dong Eun (Song Hye Kyo). She gained positive reviews for her impressive portrayal of Lee Sa Ra, addicted to alcohol and drugs, with a reckless tone and absent-minded eyes.
When asked to tell a behind-the-scenes story about filming the most intense scene, Kim Hieora said: “The scene where I met Dong Eun (Song Hye Kyo) in the church was the first session. I thought a lot about what I should do. I’ve liked actress Song Hye Kyo for a long time, so I approached her after the rehearsal and confessed, “I’m a fan…”. In response, Song Hye Kyo thanked me and said she was looking forward to my acting performance. Her words encouraged me greatly.” She added, “I was so amazed by the beauty of Song Hye Kyo that I exclaimed “You are so beautiful” before saying my lines. The director then told me to attack her more. (laughter)”.
Referring to the scene where her character hallucinates a snake, Kim Hieora said: “During the break, the director asked us if there were any uncomfortable or difficult parts in the script and encouraged the actors to express their ideas. I was very nervous at first, but as soon as shooting started, I was excited. My co-workers who played Yeon Jin and Sa Ra also encouraged me, so I really wanted to do well.” adding, “In fact, the scene was shot with a real snake and not CG effects. I played with a snake who has been professionally trained and has already filmed many dramas. It was very interesting.”
Kim Hieora also explained the “level” relationships between the 5 villains. She said, “Hye Jeong and Myung Oh have a lot to gain from us, so they often get orders from us, especially Yeon Jin and Jae Joon. I just don’t care about them. Hye Jeong secretly ignores me. I can spend time with Yeon Jin and her friends, but if I cross the line, things will get worse. Yeon Jin and Jae Joon think we’re below them.
When asked about her religion, the actress replied: “I’m Christine. My parents are Christinas too”adding “Actually, I think Sa Ra believes in her own God, not what the drama describes.“
In response to the question, “Is there any part of the drama that made you admire Kim Eun Sook’s writing skills?”Kim Hieora said, “All the rude actions and words I said came from the script. She designed Sa Ra carefully to the point that I even wondered if she knew I was going to play like that from the start.” She added “After watching the drama, I haven’t had many opportunities to talk to the writer Kim Eun Sook. She complimented me a lot after shooting. When I was worried about my role, she comforted me and told me to do what I wanted.”
