On December 7, Korean news site Sports Donga released an exclusive report stating that NCT 127 is preparing to return in January 2023 with a repackaged version of their fourth studio album “2 BADDIES”.

In response to the report, SM Entertainment told Newsen that NCT 127 is indeed working on a repackaged album with the goal of releasing next January.

Their January album will be their first music release in four months since their fourth full-length album “2 BADDIES” was released on September 16.

Featuring the title track of the same name, “2 BADDIES” sold a total of 1,547,595 copies in its first week, the most by any artist under SM Entertainment. The number is also the eighth highest first week sales of any Korean album ever.

In addition, “2 BADDIES” peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, making NCT 127 the only second K-pop artist to have three albums in the Top 5 of the Top 200 Albums chart, after BTS.

The studio album stayed on the charts for six weeks, becoming their third release (after “Neo Zone” and “Sticker”). This made the NCT unit the only second K-pop artist to have three albums spanning six weeks on the Billboard 200 after BTS.

For the week ending December 10, “2 BADDIES” ranked 112 on the Billboard 200, up 71 spots from last week’s position. It has currently spent seven weeks on the chart.

Also that week, NCT 127 re-entered Billboard’s Artist 100 at No. 97, marking its 48th non-consecutive week on the chart. This entry made the group a K-pop artist with the second most total week on record, overtaking the title from EXO and now behind BTS.

NCT 127’s Latest World Tour “NEO CITY – THE LINK”
Prior to their return, NCT 127 embarked on their second world tour entitled “NEO CITY – THE LINK”. It hosted a three-day show at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul, South Korea from December 17 to 19.

The tour continued in Japan, where the group played six concerts, two each in Nagoya, Tokyo and Osaka. They also had a concert at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore and at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in the Philippines.
They then returned to South Korea for a two-day run at the Seoul Olympic Stadium before flying to Indonesia for a two-day concert and Thailand for a three-day concert. Their concerts in Thailand were the last scheduled concerts so far.

NCT 127 was scheduled to hold two concerts in Saitama, Japan at the Saitama Super Arena on January 15 and 16, but they failed to do so due to enhanced COVID-19 restrictions in the city.
Meanwhile, NCT 127 is one of SM Entertainment’s artists to take part in the agency-wide 2022 Winter SMTOWN project called “SMCU PALACE.” In fact, it’s a new all-artist album scheduled for release on December 26.

“2022 Winter SMTOWN: SMCU PALACE” is available in different versions, including the Palace version, the Portraitbook version, and the version for each of the company acts on the album.
