BTS Jimin crowned the 1st “King of K-pop” 2022
December 5 Korean media Star Messages announced BTS Jimin as this year’s “King of K-pop”.
Recently, Shining Awards, an overseas voting website, conducted a poll to determine the current ruler of the K-pop scene under the slogan “King of K-pop 2022”. There are 10 nominees, including members of top groups BTS, EXO, SEVENTEEN, SHINee, and NCT.
As a result of the poll, which ended on November 30, BTS Jimin took first place after gaining a total of 95,803 votes (42.57%).

Jimin
Jimin, the main dancer of BTS, was already making a fuss before his debut. In high school, he won people’s hearts as the best dancer at Busan Arts High School and was praised for his great and technical performance.
He is also worthy to become a vocalist with his unique voice.
In terms of visual effects, he is praised for his mysterious and sexy aura onstage, as well as for his charming and likable atmosphere off-camera.
As an artist, he not only performs, but also builds exemplary relationships between artists and fans through SNS. As a person, he is also a role model who has had a good influence by donating to the socially disadvantaged.

This isn’t the first time Jimin has been voted “King of K-pop”. In the past, he was also awarded “K-Pop Idol of the Year” for the fourth year in a row, “KING OF K-POP” DABEME, showing his influence as the No. 1 K-pop player who shone in 2022.

After BTS Jimin, EXO Kai, which debuted in 2012 under SM Entertainment, came second with 87,305 votes (38.80%).
In 2013, the idol became known as the group’s main dancer with EXO’s hit “Growl”. He then expanded his career in the music scene with his solo debut, creating his own popular songs “Mmmh” and “Peaches”.

Outside the music industry, he expanded his influence in the fashion scene, becoming a global ambassador for luxury brands Gucci, YSL beauty and others.
Meanwhile, SHINee Taemin, also known as “The Ace of K-pop”, ranked 9th despite taking a break due to his military service. Among the Top 10, he is the only second-generation K-pop idol who debuted in 2008, but continues to make history even in the current fourth-generation era.

In fact, he debuted as SuperM in 2019 alongside EXO Kai and made an impact in the United States before the band went on hiatus in the meantime. But according to related news, SuperM will announce its return in early 2023, confirmed by Lee Soo Man.
In addition to the aforementioned three, BTS V and Jungkook also entered the ranking, as well as EXO Suho, Chanyeol and SEVENTEEN Mingyu. NCT 127 Taeyong and Jaehyun also made the top ten.
