Jo Kyungmin is one of the students who participated in Mnet “I-LAND”, the survival program of a group of boys that created ENHYPEN. Unfortunately, he didn’t make it to the last episode, but was selected to debut at HYBE Labels Japan. But he eventually left the agency.

About the former contestant of the “I-LAND” Kyungmin

On June 2, 2020, Kyungmin was introduced as a participant in “I-LAND”, a survival show jointly produced by CJ ENM and Big Hit Entertainment (now HYBE). Before participating in the program, he trained for a year and 11 months as part of Big Hit.

During his time on the show, he gained a lot of fans, and his fandom is called Kyungminice (which the fans themselves created).

In “I-LAND” Jo Kyungmin is one of four players aged 15, born on October 28, 2004. This makes him one of the youngest students participating in the program.

In the first episode of “I-LAND” he performed VIXX’s “Chained Up” with Jaeho and Geonu. But unfortunately he was sent to Earth, hence he could not enter I-LAND.

In Episode 4, he managed to get into I-LAND after “Ground” performed in “Fire” BTS. However, he returned to Earth because a total of 11 people voted for him.

In Episode 7, Kyungmin was finally eliminated from the survival show. Therefore, he could not take part in Part 2.

Three months after the end of “I-LAND” (September 2020), HYBE Labels Japan announced that Kyungmin will make his debut in Japan as part of the upcoming boys group (along with the other “I-LAND” contestants EJ, Nicholas, Taki and K).

But on May 31, the company released Attention, announcing Kyungmina’s departure from the group and agency. HYBE Labels Japan explained that it had established some differences in sought directions between him and the label.

The same day HYBE Labels Japan announced Kyungmin’s departure from the company, the former “I-LAND” player opened his Instagram account. However, his account is currently set to private and appeared to be deleted or archived all his posts recently.

So far, there has been no information about his debut, but Jo Kyungmin is said to be currently an intern at MNH Entertainment (Kim Chungh’s soloist management agency).

MNH Entertainment has a pre-debut group of boys called BOM (acronym for Boys of MNH). The company launched an Instagram account for them on March 4 this year. The pre-debut team also has a TikTok account, and interns often upload videos of them dancing to a variety of songs.

Fans who have seen TikTok videos they are sure former “I-LAND” player Kyungmin is one of those interns at MNH Entertainment. The latest TikTok video from BOM features a total of 12 boys. It’s not sure if all of them will debut, but the boys are expected to make their debut in 2023.
