SMROOKIES is a famous trainee band before SM Entertainment’s debut. Many of SM’s current artists, including members of Red Velvet, NCT, and aespa, were once part of this band. However, while many of them debuted, some of them left the group and SM Entertainment – one of them was Kim Suhye.
Who is former SMROOKIES Kim Suhye?
Kim Suhye was born on December 13, 2004 in Namdong-gu, Incheon, South Korea. She currently attends Hanlim Performing Arts High School and is a singing student at the IB Music Academy, where she is coached by Jayoung, a member of the rock group Rolling Quartz.

She used to be an intern at SM Entertainment, but it is unknown when she started training at the company. It is also not certain when she parted ways with SM.

After her departure, she joined PocketDol Studio as an intern in 2021. Currently, PocketDol Studio is home to the South Korean group BAE173.

While she was at PocketDol Studio, former SMROOKIES Kim Suhye participated in the reality show “My Teenage Girl”, which formed newcomer CLASS:y. Unfortunately, she was eliminated in episode 8, which aired on January 16, 2022, because she got the fewest votes in her alliance.
She is believed to have left PocketDol Studio after her elimination from “My Teenage Girl”.

On April 15, it was announced that Suhye had joined 143 Entertainment. Then, on August 12, she was officially introduced as a member of LIMELIGHT, whose goal is to be a girl group with no limit on the number of members, making them look like a female version of NCT.

LIMELIGHT is rumored to debut in January 2023. The currently revealed members are MiU, Suhye, and Gaeun. Suhye is predicted to be part of the group’s vocal line as she possesses a clear and pure voice which she showed while participating in “My Teenage Girl”.

On September 29, the upcoming girl group released their debut album to mark the beginning of their pre-debut activity. The album features six tracks in total, including “Starlight” and “Eye to Eye”, which were originally revealed in the music videos on September 27 and 28, respectively.

Also on September 29, the trio made their stage debut on Mnet’s “M Countdown” with “Starlight”.
In addition to releasing their pre-debut album, LIMELIGHT members MiU, Suhye and Gaeun also premiered their reality show “Lululala” on August 18. The program presents the process of their debut. Episodes are released through their YouTube channel. There are seven episodes on the channel so far, plus a joke compilation, as well as behind-the-scenes clips, special videos, and more.
